Web Briefing: The Patriot Act was renewed by President Bush in March, 2006. The original Patriot Act was enacted shortly after 9-11 and it immediately raised concerns that enabling the FBI to make special requests for vaguely defined "business records" could be interpreted as allowing access to medical or mental health records Lobbying efforts were made by the APA and others to strengthen protection of medical and mental health records Were they successful? Find out from Dan Taube, a psychologist with a law degree, and a record of teaching and publication on issues of privacy and confidentiality. Classroom CE Workshops: As professional ethics codes, regulations and case law become increasingly complex, busy practitioners often find it difficult to keep up with these developments and may unknowingly be at increased risk for lawsuits or ethics and licensing complaints. This extremely popular workshop provides an organized, coherent overview of recent ethical, regulatory and other legal changes that affect professional practice. Participation may qualify psychologists for discounts on malpractice insurance (please check with your insurer). Web Lectures: These online lectures contain Dr Taube's full classroom presentation, including his voice and Powerpoint slides. The Classroom Workshops and Web Lectures meet and exceed the Board of Psychology (BOP) four-hour and the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) six-hour law and ethics update requirement. |
