This class includes an optional live consultation with Dr Lu, (for more information, please see below) Mental health professionals are always in need of grant funding, especially in tough economic times. This course provides grant seekers with the opportunity to develop and polish the skills needed to obtain funding for client-related services and program development. Learn how to better your community by obtaining grant funding to help the underserved populations. Grant Writing for Mental Health Professionals teaches the key components involved in grant writing, including organizational and program description, case/need statement, methodology, reporting results and outcomes, and budgeting. Researching for private foundations, government grants, and corporation funds will be discussed. Through examples and presentations, participants learn how to seek funds strategically through relationship-building, need assessment, and program development. The legal, financial, and support documents required to supplement grants are also discussed. Grant Writing Consultation, by Dr Theresa Lu is an optional follow-up component to this class. In a series of one-hour online sessions, Dr Lu will take questions and reply in real-time using a webcam and microphone. Participants with operating microphones will be able to converse with Dr Lu and you can also participate if you do not have a microphone by typing in your questions in these sessions, scheduled as shown below: Thursday, August 27 ~ 10am September 24 ~ 10am October 29 ~ 10am One addition hour of Continuing Education credit will be awarded at no additional charge to participants. Theresa Lu, PhD is the CEO and Founder of Lu & Associates and has earned her Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Counseling Psychology at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Theresa has over eighteen years of experience working in non-profit organizations, ranging from grass-roots agencies to universities. She worked in management positions including Women's Transitional Center, University of San Diego Counseling Center, Southern Illinois University Office of the President, and Orange County Rape Crisis Center, where she developed her skills in staff, board, organizational, program, and resource development. Theresa is on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals in Orange County, serving as Vice President of Membership. She is a volunteer with Orange County's United Way and has worked with First 5 in Los Angeles. Theresa is also an adjunct professor at USC and Alliant University. |
