A professor at Alliant International University since 1984, he is also adjunct graduate faculty at the University of Southern California. He teaches courses on supervision, law and ethics, and diagnostic and forensic specializations. A published author, Dr. Fox has presented his work across the country and abroad and has been interviewed on CNN and other media programs. This series of courses on supervision was designed to allow a number of options, depending on the specific requirements you need to fulfill. Completion of either the six-hour or seven-hour segments, based on your level of experience, constitutes the minimum six-hours of formal training in supervision required for those who supervise psychology interns, psychological assistants and MFT interns. Completion of all three courses constitutes the 15 hours of formal coursework in supervision required of those who supervise associate clinical social workers. Foundations and Fundamentals of Supervision presents a structured model for clinical supervision. The history and theories of psychotherapy supervision are surveyed with a focus on understanding the development of the supervisory relationship. Implementation of supervision skills, techniques and competencies will be addressed, with key concepts including goal and focus determination, transference and boundaries, assessment of progress, parallel process and the roles of supervisor and supervisee. This course constitutes six hours of formal training in supervision to fulfill Board of Psychology (BOP) and Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) regulations. Legal and Ethical Standards in Clinical Supervision focuses on presenting a framework for professional supervisors, which complies with ethical and legal requirements. Updated information relevant to supervisors within psychology, social work and marriage and family therapy specializations is covered. This course constitutes two hours of formal training in supervision to fulfill Board of Psychology (BOP) and Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) regulations Advanced Supervision: Emerging Trends in Practice and Technique goes beyond the basic model of structured supervision and explores deeper issues for experienced supervisors in enhancing supervisory skills and awareness. Concepts include conflict identification, learning styles, utilization, parallel process, and assessment and management of challenging conditions arising in psychotherapy supervision. Evidence based principles and the intersubjective framework will be introduced, including research on cultural and gender factors. This course constitutes seven hours of formal training in supervision to fulfill Board of Psychology (BOP) and Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) regulations. |
