This course provides advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

Participants learn how to work deeply and effectively with more complex cases and how to best integrate EMDR into their clinical work and therapy style. Dr. Parnell presents techniques for ego strengthening including the development and installation of resources, advanced techniques for the development of EMDR targets, techniques for working with blocked processing and abreactions, the use of imaginal and cognitive interweaves, and how to use EMDR with adults traumatized as children.
Participants must have successfully completed an EMDRIA-approved basic EMDR course prior to taking this course.

This course has been approved by the EMDR International Association. In accordance with the new standards for basic EMDR training, participants must complete Parts 1 and 2, receive 10 hours of consultation from EMDRIA-approved consultants recommended by the instructor, and then take Laurel Parnell’s Advanced Clinical Workshop and Refresher Course in order to complete the requirements for basic EMDR training. All three parts must be completed with Dr. Parnell within a two year period. Required reading: Parnell, A Therapist’s Guide to EMDR. Recommended reading: Parnell, Transforming Trauma:EMDR, EMDR in the Treatment of Adults Abused As Children, and Tapping In; and Francine Shapiro, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Participants will be required to submit licensure documentation before attendance and must bring copies of their professional licenses or certification to the training. Interns must submit a letter from their supervisors stating that they will be supervised.
